OUR PEOPLE

Creating an inclusive, engaging and motivating environment to accelerate positive change

We pride ourselves on a working environment that’s inclusive, engaging, motivating and inspiring. We want to take our colleagues on the Harrods Path so that they can make educated choices and play an active role in achieving our goals. We know our people care about sustainability and want to play their part – so by creating a culture where sustainability becomes a daily focus, we can facilitate positive change for our business and our employees alike.

What We’re Doing

  • Embedding Sustainability – We want to foster a culture that encourages and supports sustainability at all levels. We will be working with key directorates and other stakeholders to embed sustainability KPIs into job descriptions to ensure accountability.

  • Sustainability Engagement & Education – We provide a steady stream of information and updates to the business about sustainability projects and our wider strategy. This ensures that our people make the connection between the Harrods Path and their day-to-day work. We also provide additional training and resources as needed.

  • Diversity, Equity & Inclusion – We are working in partnership with our People team to enable the Diversity, Equity and & Inclusion roadmap, seeking opportunities to collaborate and achieve our shared goals.

Where We’re Going

  • Diversity, equity and inclusion are central to our People strategy, and we are dedicated to nurturing an inclusive and positive working environment for all. Our goal is to increase representation in all dimensions to reflect the customers we serve and the increasingly diverse and global marketplace we operate in. Over the last year, we have invested significantly in our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) agenda. This includes focusing on our existing colleague networks, capturing data to inform our decision-making, and creating an inclusive and equitable culture.

  • Our three focus areas for our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategy are:

Data & Insight – Understanding our current diversity demographics and defining the targeted progress we want to see

Culture & Learning – Building awareness and confidence at all levels to create an inclusive culture where all colleagues feel valued and respected

Belonging Networks – Amplifying our current Belonging Networks and adding new networks to encourage allyship and intersectionality

“Our people are at the heart of everything we do, so investing in them is crucial to our success. By developing an engaging and collaborative culture, we can accelerate positive change in key areas such as sustainability. As we celebrate our 175th anniversary, we’re looking back at our rich heritage and the extraordinary people that make what we do possible – as well as looking ahead to what the next 175 years will hold. Our approach to sustainability will play a key part in this.”

- Abi Weeks, Chief People Officer
