The Harrods Tea Rooms, Shanghai
The Harrods Tea Rooms, Shanghai
In the ancient city of Shanghai, on the first floor of the historical Cha House in Jing’an District, members of The Residence can now enjoy a quintessential British afternoon tea in an exquisite space designed by Harrods Interior Design.
Every detail of the bright, opulent interior design has been chosen to evoke the distinct East-meets-West Art Deco style of Cha House, while celebrating the rich heritage of tea at Harrods.
As clients sip from pristine Wedgwood china, they’ll spot bespoke Murano lights decorated with tea leaf motifs on back-lit panels and antique English tea caddies shimmering from wall displays. On the floor, white magnolias – a nod to Shanghai’s official flower – blossom on a custom-made rug.
The colour palette of the interior styling, meanwhile, takes inspiration from the building’s existing features: rich burgundy tones from the stone floor are picked up in the upholstery, while the dark tones of the carved timber stairs are reflected in the furniture. These are combined with aged-brass finishes and mocha marble cabinetry to create a space that feels unmistakably Harrods and perfectly at home in Shanghai.
