St John's Wood
St John’s Wood
Tasked with redesigning this beautiful family home, Harrods Interior Design injected colour into a calming neutral palette to create a scheme that celebrates the architecture of the building.
To soften the prominent architectural lines of this period property, the team introduced organic shapes with curved sofas and armchairs, and round coffee tables. When furniture planning, scale and proportion were front of mind to ensure the large rooms with high ceilings felt warm and harmonious.
With a focus on detail and textures, and in keeping with the property’s neutral palette, bespoke designs were introduced throughout the home in the form of rugs, creating a luxurious yet understated feel.
Marble was used throughout the property, integrated into furniture such as coffee tables and sidetables, while wood finishes add opulent detailing to pieces including consoles. In this way, multiple focal points are highlighted in every room – be it through geometry, pattern or contrasting materials.
Lighting plays an important role in the overall design, adding depth, height and interest – see the mix of whimsical and contemporary light fixtures and chandeliers.
Concealed behind panelling, an opulent dining table stands proud in the dining room, creating theatre and anticipation around mealtimes. Shiny lacquered finishes bounce light around the room, while leather stitching on the back of the chairs provides an opulent and sophisticated feel.
In the bedrooms, comfort was delicately balanced with luxurious detailing. Layered finishes on the master bed’s headboard introduce colour while retaining an overall sense of calm.
Finally, the outdoor space was designed to chime perfectly with the interior design, using similar colours and finishes on outdoor furniture, and reflecting the dark wood in the formal living space.
