How to Wear a Watch with Any Outfit
While timepieces can talk to statement style, there are those watches that are known for their versatility. Reliable and iconic. Such pieces can be dressed up or down and accompany you every day, becoming so much a part of your routine that you might even forget that they’re there – but, when you do catch a glimpse, you’ll smile. It’s a watch like this that man of style and influencer Daniel Simmons donned to demonstrate the theory.
Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Reverso Classic was designed in the 1930s with a reversible case, originally intended to protect the dial during games of polo. Now, it sits in the horology hall of fame, flanked by equal icons such as Cartier’s Santos de Cartier and A. Lange & Söhne’s Lange 1 – all of which transcend time and trend. Here, Daniel styles the iconic Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Classic two ways, showcasing its versatile credentials amid daytime and dressed-up outfits alike.
Classic Meets Casual
Distinguished by its sleek form, Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Reverso family chimes harmoniously with considered casuals – a refined Lemaire merino knit or lightly tapered Ami Paris trousers, for example. Such clean styling ensures a watch – any classic watch – stays front and centre, highlighting its design nuances. In the Reverso’s case, these span fluted edges, a handsome rectangular profile and, of course, an iconic reversible case.
“I really like that these trousers can be dressed up or dressed down, which is exactly the same for the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso” – Daniel Simmons
Elevate Your Look
Little changes go a long way towards dressing up casual outfits. Taking the Reverso’s slick black strap as his cue, Daniel adds a dark leather overshirt and swaps sneakers for Maison Margiela’s split-toe Tabi boots. The base stays the same, but the mood completely changes. To this end, Jaeger-LeCoultre goes one step further. Reversed to reveal its protective, polished stainless-steel case back, this iconic timepiece steps up as jewellery, too – becoming a contemporary flourish in an event-appropriate wardrobe.
