Back to School Supplies: From School Shoes to Book Bags

Feature: Quick Read
Words by Harrods Writers

The first day of school seems to come around sooner every year. Blink in June, and suddenly it’s August – and the need for fresh school coats, shoes, and classroom supplies is topping the agenda. While their uniform is a no-brainer, the things surrounding it require some thought. So, pens at the ready. Class is in session.

The Essential: School Coats

The lesson of layering is one they’ll learn from the outset. The best school coats echo the dress code of uniform while bringing a touch of your scholar’s character to the fore. The likes of Trotters and Miki House Kids go old-school with nostalgic silhouettes and traditional wool-felt constructions, while Moncler Enfant and Pucci Junior promise practicality with personality in spades.

Homework Club

When studious little ones are thirsty for knowledge, broaden their minds in and out of school with interactive, educational toys and fun Harrods stationery to help them learn in their own style. Dressing the part? Preppy pieces via Thom Browne Kids and Burberry Kids will have them manifesting an A+ in no time.

Homework Club

Homework needn’t be a chore, it just takes some fine-tuning.

The Essential: School Bags

Though a roomy bag is requisite for school, it also allows little students to express themselves beyond their uniforms. A customisable Becco Bags backpack or something bright by Fjällräven Kids will ace the back-to-school assignment. For extra credit, why not add a playful keyring or two?

Art Club

At the after-school art club, imaginations can run riot. Your Monet in-the-making will adore vibrant, poppy casuals that counteract the structure of their nine-to-three – and Stella McCartney Kids and Missoni Kids are right there with them.

The Essential: School Shoes

Science is yet to find anything that grows faster than a child’s feet – making a new pair of school shoes an inevitable requirement. Policy may limit them to classic black footwear, but with Papouelli, Lelli Kelly and Dr. Martens offering such variety, your little one(s) will be spoilt for choice.
