Fulham Riverside

For this five-bedroom riverside home, the Harrods Interior Design team wanted to make sure the exterior environment had a subtle but constant presence. The sun setting on the river, the darker hues of the deeper water and the surface dappled with light – there are echoes of all three in this property.

The brief was to create a home away from home for the owner’s family – encompassing his elderly parents, and young son and daughter. It needed to have all the comforts of a luxury hotel, while retaining plenty of warmth and character, and also suiting the tastes and needs of a broad range of occupants. That was no small challenge, but one the team rose to with great aplomb.

The interior design of the master bedroom is a delicate wash of sunset hues, its palette of blush, mauve and deeper purples complemented by shimmering brass, reflecting the way that light dances on the water’s surface. Darker tones of blue, designed to represent the river’s depths, are artfully incorporated into the living and dining areas – rooms that have been designed using a calming colour palette, answering the client’s wish for a rejuvenating space for the family.

In the guest bedroom and snug, colour is kept to a minimum. Neutral shades such as sandy limestone give a nod to the nearby bridge, while pops of teal and gold catch the eye.

The Harrods Interior Design team have created rooms that are both welcoming and calm, with a running theme that genuinely connects with their surroundings – a true urban haven.
