Battersea Riverside

Battersea Riverside

When conceptualising the interiors of this spacious city apartment, highlighting the breathtaking view was always front of mind. Ever-changing from sunrise to sunset, the world beyond the apartment’s windows became the moving piece of art that inspired the entire scheme.

The team decided to work with a neutral colour palette. Cosy cream shades are paired with sophisticated beige hues to give the space a feeling of timeless elegance. Layered with contemporary elements, the interior design subtly mimics the urban view beyond their walls. In the living room, geometric pendant lights work with a side table and a low coffee table to recreate the skyline’s varying heights, while high-gloss accessories echo the shimmer of the river.

In the same space, an oak-veneer cabinet from Eichholtz is styled with vases, objects and accessories that balance its strong lines with their gentle curves. This conversation between contrasting silhouettes is carried throughout the interiors to give the space a dynamic feel.

The use of wood and leather in the bedroom brings a masculine edge to the design – but with touches of brass to chime with the overall scheme. Statement handles on the dark bedside tables and brushed brass caps on the footboard help to continue the elegant theme. An expansive winged headboard anchors the bed, which is dressed in luxurious natural materials – think, linen, wool and cashmere – to maximise comfort.

With both an indoor and outdoor dining space, it was important to create a flow that connected the two zones. The designers achieved this by using marble to define both spaces. Inside, a polished marble dining table from B&B Italia was chosen for its ability to imitate the reflections of the river. It’s paired with cocooning dining chairs that feature low backs to maintain unobstructed views of the outdoors.

On the generous terrace, careful design choices allow the cityscape beyond to take centre stage. While the linear frames of the seating echo the skyline, the rippling marble tabletops mirror the movement of water on the River Thames.
